Netflix’s brand new 7-part series that centres around a man known as Joe Exotic, his Oklahoma wildlife park, and his feud with big cat rescuer, Carole Baskin. But as, we know this show is about SO MUCH MORE. This incredible human shit show has cults, guns, rednecks, meth, a murder for hire plot, a suicide or gun accident, a questionable disappearance, more meth, a whole bunch of tigers, far too many male ponytails, a missing arm, country music, interviews from a bathtub, shirtless interviews, and a whole bunch more rednecks.

It’s like Netflix heard our collective sighs of quarantine boredom and said “Hold my beer”. Now, our first introduction to Joe Exotic was last year in season 2 of Wondery’s podcast “Over My Dead Body”. We chatted about the podcast on our Best of 2019 episode (which you can listen to and read all about by clicking here). Whilst the podcast was brilliant, we all agree that it didn’t do the cast justice when it comes to just how bizarre this story is.

The documentary also opens it up to the wider big cat community as well. Rather than retell the whole story, in our review section, Anna takes us through some of the key players; we discuss our most WTF moments from the show and give our ratings at the end.
