The unsolved murder of JonBenét Ramsey
Born in 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia, JonBenét Patricia Rasmey, moved with her parents, John and Patricia, and older brother, Burke, to Boulder Colorado in 1991. John Ramsey had previously been married with two older children and worked for a computer system company. Patricia was well known for entering JonBenét into beauty pageants and the most circulated photos include her dressed in her pageant attire.
Patricia discovered her daughter was missing early on the morning of Boxing Day, 26 December 1996. She finds a two and a half page ransom note on the back staircase of the family home demanding $118,000 and immediately calls 911. The police begin their investigation in search of the missing six year old. Later on that day, John Ramsey is searching the family home with a friend as the police have asked them to walk around and see whether anything is out of the ordinary. He finds JonBenét’s body in a room in the basement. Her mouth is covered with duct tape, she has a skull fracture and has been strangled with a garrotte.
